About Valary

Welcome! I am Valary Morris, a Richland, Washington-based watercolorist, and I invite you to step past the horizon to look nature directly in the eye. As a self-taught artist, my distinctive style bypasses traditional landscapes in favor of dramatic, close-cropped portraits of exotic wildlife, vivid flora, mushrooms, and ancient trees. My artistic identity is deeply shaped by my roots in the Pacific Northwest, but it was my time exploring Colombia and Central America that permanently ignited my signature palette. Today, I create my fine art collections under my personal name while continuing to operate my broader creative work at Wild Maidens Studio.

Artist Statement

The world is far more beautiful than we allow ourselves to notice, and my art is an invitation to slow down. Painting exclusively with local, Seattle-made Daniel Smith watercolors for their exceptional clarity and depth, I embrace the delicate balance between artistic intention and the beautiful unpredictability of water on paperu2014a process that perfectly mirrors the spontaneity of travel.

My compositions bring the intricate details of the natural world into sharp, intimate focus: a glowing green eye, a flash of brilliant plumage, or the drape of a tropical leaf. Currently transitioning into a full-time creative practice, I am celebrating my recent acceptance as a featured artist at the Allied Arts Gallery, where I look forward to sharing my up-close perspective on global biodiversity with you.
